FACILITIES AVAILABLE

  • Plain Radiograph: All routine X-rays are conducted on siemens 160 mA.
  • Mammography: is a specific type of imaging that uses low dose x-ray system for early detection of breast cancer. All women above the age of 50 yrs must get an annual x-ray mammogram and those above 40 yrs must get one done every 2 years. In addition high resolution sonomammography is routinely performed for dense breasts and for detection of very small cancer.
  • Stereotactic needle biopsy: is an important tool in sampling non-palpable breasts lesions or indistinct breast lesions by using techniques that allow spatial localization of lesion within the breast.
  • DEXA bone densitometry: is performed to assess bone mineral density in specific target areas or whole body and is especially useful in postmenopausal women and older people.
  • Ultrasound:  Conventional ultrasound displays the image in thin flat sections of the body. Advancements in ultrasound technology include three-dimensional ultrasound (3D) that formats the sound wave data into 3D images. Four dimensional (4D) ultrasound is 3-D ultrasound in motion.
             These include:
                         a) Abdominal and gynaecology ultrasound
                         b) Obstetrics ultrasound
                         c) Doppler studies
                         d) Small parts ultrasound
  • Neurosonography: is the preferred method of imaging of neonatal brain while the fontanneles remain open. It is used to defect intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) and while matter disease in premature infants. A high frequency transducer (5-7 MHZ) having a small footprint is used to match the size of fontanelle.
  • Special infertility procedures:
                         a) Hysterosalpingogram (HSG): is a radiologic procedure to investigate the shape of the uterine cavity and the patency of the fallopian tubes. It entails the injection of the radioopaque material into the cervical canal.
                         b) Sonosalpingography (SHG): is an accurate method for the assessment of fallopian tube patency by injecting saline in to the uterine cavity under ultrasound guidance. It is a simple, safe and well tolerated technique with a low risk of adverse effects and severe complications.
                        c) Follicular studies.
  • Ultrasound guided procedures including: FNAC, Biopsy and aspiration both in OT and Dept.
