World Stroke Day
On the 29th October, Fortis Malar hospital created awareness on World Stroke Day by organizing ‘Free BP Check-up’ for around 320 employees of HCL and as well as, for all the people who walked inside the hospital. This helped people to be aware for their own BP levels so that they could take proper preventive measures accordingly and avoid problems at a later stage. Education brochures on Stroke were also distributed to all.

H1N1 (Swine Flu)
Swine Flu is a serious and contagious viral illness caused by H1N1 pandemic flu virus. In India, till date more than 33,000 people have been infected with H1N1 Swine Flu. Reports have shown that Swine Flu has significantly higher risk of hospitalization.
In order to protect people from getting infected, Fortis Malar hospital initiated to provide vaccination to all the employees of most, of the corporate companies. Till date the hospital has covered more than 1900 employees from different companies, namely, The Murugappa group, Rennault Nissan, Indica Sporting groups, IOCL, C-Dot Alcatel etc.

Camp for RBI Retired employees
A Free cardiac screening camp was conducted on the 5th Sept, 2010 for the ‘Retired employees of Reserve Bank of India’. The employees were tested on the following BMI, BP, ECG, Random Blood sugar and Doctor consultation.
Around 100 employees were part of this camp.

General Screening camp @ Isha Homes Pvt Ltd
On the 6th Sept, a general screening camp was conducted for around 63 employees of Isha Homes Pvt Ltd. Height, Weight, BP and Pulse rate of the employees were checked by the medical officer who was part of the event.

Screening camp at HUL
On the 30th Sept, a screening camp was conducted for the employees of Hindustan Unilever limited, at their premises. The test contents were BMI, BP, Total Cholesterol and Fasting blood sugar. More than 82 people were part of this event.

Green Angels
Nanhi Chann is an NGO that works for the well being of girl children as well as towards promoting a healthy environment. On the same lines, Fortis Healthcare (India) has started an initiative towards promoting the welfare of the girl child.
At Fortis Malar Hospital, as part of the Corporate Social Services (CSS) this initiative is run under the name of ‘Green Angels’. .jpg)
Fortis Malar believes that women play a very important role in family and society. They should be honoured and acknowledged for their contribution towards bringing about a positive change in the society they are part of, and a girl child is to be cherished and loved.
When a girl child is born at Fortis Malar Hospital, a letter of congratulation is presented to the parents for receiving an angel in form of a baby girl. Along with it they are gifted a jasmine sapling as a sign of rejuvenation and celebration.
The initiative has been very well received by the families of the baby girls and also other patients and visitors.
