RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY:
Reconstructive Plastic Surgery is performed to correct birth defects such as cleft lip and cleft palate or craniofacial anomalies or to restore form and function after injury, trauma or ablative surgery for cancers of the head and neck or breast cancer surgery. Reconstructive surgery is also performed for major trauma or following burns and accidents. Though corrective plastic surgery improves cosmetic appearance it is referred to as reconstructive surgery.
