Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome exceptional individuals who will support us in our effort to make a difference to our patient's lives

Who can volunteer?

Anybody can be a volunteer, but certain requirements need to be met such as :

The person must be a graduate in any discipline.
Must have essential qualities like

• Compassion
• Empathy
• Sensitivity
• Willingness to learn
• Non-judgemental and an objective outlook besides
• Listening skills

Duration

The duration of the volunteer period should be a minimum twice a week for 2-4 working hours especially during official working hours except in special circumstances. The volunteer will be on a 3 months trial period which will be reviewed on an on-going basis.

Location

The places where the volunteer can work are wards, patient care service areas like guest relations, IPD waiting areas etc.

Nature of Work

The work profile and what the volunteer can do will be defined by the management but the basic task of a social volunteer involves the following :

• Conversing with the patients
• Relieving the boredom of patients due to their long stay - such as playing games with them
• Motivating and cheering patients
• Being a friend to the patients
• Discussing the patient's problems and trying to solve them
• Acting as a link between the hospital authorities and the patients
