Mr. Malvinder Mohan Singh
Chairman


Mr. Malvinder Mohan Singh has significant business interests in the Healthcare, Financial Services and Insurance sectors. He is Group Chairman of Fortis Healthcare (India) Limited, a leading healthcare player in India and the Asia Pacific. He is spearheading the creation of the first integrated pan Asian healthcare delivery model. Previously, he was Chairman, MD and CEO of Ranbaxy Laboratories. He was instrumental in the coming together of Ranbaxy and Daiichi Sankyo, to create the fifteenth largest pharmaceutical company in the world - a move seen as a game-changer by industry experts.
 
Mr. Singh has interests in the Financial Services and Insurance sectors through Religare Enterprises, India's fastest growing, integrated financial services company with over 10,000 employees and a presence in 12 countries across Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe and the Americas. He remains committed to building upon these businesses, using a strategic combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, to ensure a strong presence in the global arena.
 
He was member of the Young Global Leaders initiative of the World Economic Forum, in the first batch starting 2005, for a period of six years. He is a member of the Board of Visitors at the Fuqua School of Business (Duke University, USA) and the Board of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). A graduate in Economics, he earned his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, USA.
 



Mr. Shivinder Mohan Singh
Managing Director, Fortis Healthcare (India) Ltd.


Mr. Shivinder Mohan Singh is a young entrepreneur who aims to change the way Healthcare is delivered in the world. He is the Managing Director of Fortis Healthcare (India) Limited. He is also one of the principal promoters of Religare Enterprises Limited, Super Religare Laboratories Limited, Fortis Clinical Research Limited and serves as a Director on the Board of Religare Technologies Limited. Shivinder was, till recently, one of the key promoters of Ranbaxy Laboratories and served as Director on the Board of the pharma major. He played a strategic role in the sale of Ranbaxy, thereby taking the company to the next level and creating significant long term value for all stakeholders.

An alumnus of Doon School and an Honours Graduate in Mathematics from St. Stephens College, Delhi, he has done his MBA with specialization in health sector management from the Duke University Business School, USA.

His significant contribution in Indian Healthcare is widely acknowledged. His strategy for Fortis and its execution has been recognized by Harvard Business School in the form of a case study. Shivinder has been playing an important and active role in shaping the private healthcare space in India. He was the Chairperson of Health Services Committee of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Presently, he is the Chairperson of FICCI Young Leaders and Board member of Indo British Partnership Network (IBPN), former Board Member of National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Healthcare Providers (NABH) and chair of the healthcare committee of UKTI (UK Trade & Investment). He is also on the National Board of Advisors of AIESEC, a global, non-political, independent, not-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education.

Even though healthcare is a passion for him, his dream is to see a vibrant India in his lifetime. This motivates him to get involved in various activities directed towards bringing about positive social change in our country and engaging with different aspects of Building India. Shivinder is one of the trustees of an NGO 'Joining Hands'.

In addition to this, Mr. Singh is also involved in various CSR initiatives focused on the Girl Child, HIV education, providing quality healthcare to Rural India to name a few.

He is on the board of visitors of Fuqua School of Business; Duke University, U.S. and a fellow of Aspens India Leadership Initiative. He is also a Director of Step by Step school.

He lives with his wife and four sons in New Delhi and likes sports like football and hockey, watching movies and building lasting relationships!


Dr. Brian William Tempest
Chairman


Dr. Brian William Tempest advises Companies, Banks, Investment Funds, Private Equity & High Net Worth Individuals on their Strategy in Asia based on his wide experience in China, Japan, South East Asia and India where he has lived for the last decade or more. Dr. Tempest has worked for Ranbaxy Laboratories since 1995 holding the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer until 2005. He was then Chief Mentor and Non Executive Director until 2008. He is one of the few westerners to have led a Sensex Nifty 50 Indian blue Chip MNC and as a result has a valuable insight into India. He has also worked for Glaxo as Regional Director- Far East and Regional Director- Middle East & Africa. He has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for the last 39 years and has managed Healthcare businesses in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and India. Dr. Tempest has also led many sessions at Investor Meetings held around the World. He is currently Independent Chairman of Religare Capital Markets which is responsible for the international global banking business of Religare, the leading Indian Bank. He is also an international advisor to MAPE the Indian M&A boutique and UNCTAD Switzerland. In addition, he is a member of the SCRIP Global Awards Panel and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Generic Medicines. He speaks at global conferences on the challenges from India and China. Dr. Tempest has a PhD from Lancaster University and is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal Society of Chemistry. He is now Chairman of Hale & Tempest Co Ltd.
 



Mr. Sunil Godhwani
Chairman and Managing Director


Mr. Sunil Godhwani, Chairman and Managing Director, Religare Enterprises Limited, is the driving force behind the company. A man with a vision to create a global business of excellence, he is the inspiration to all as he spearheads the company's management and global operations; strategizing and directing it through its next phase of growth.

Sunil brings to the company strong leadership skills, vigor and a passion for excellence. He believes in nurturing a culture that is entrepreneurial, result oriented, customer focused and based on teamwork. He has given strategic direction to Religare's growth since his joining in 2001. He has been instrumental in establishing Religare's vast network and shaping the Company's strategies in India and abroad. He is on a constant lookout for taking the Company to new heights by managing various acquisitions, finding new partners for joint ventures and scouting new avenues for the business. Under his able leadership, Religare Enterprises Limited is India's fastest growing, integrated financial services company with a significant presence in 12 countries across Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe and the Americas. With over 10,000 employees, Religare serves over a million investors ranging from corporate clients to high net worth individuals.

Sunil has a diverse and wide-ranging experience of over two decades in managing large scale businesses, he also serves as Director on the Boards of Religare Technova Limited, Super Religare Laboratories Limited, Religare Macquarie Wealth Management Limited, AEGON Religare Life Insurance Company Limited, Religare Voyages Limited, Parkway Holdings, Fortis Healthcare Limited and other subsidiaries/ Group companies of Religare.

A powerful orator and a great motivator, Sunil has been awarded with many awards and accolades. Recently he has been awarded 'India Business Leader of the Year' award at Global Indian Business Meeting hosted by Horasis, in Madrid, Spain and "CEO of the year Award" at CEO CLUBS INTERNATIONAL Awards.

Born in New Delhi, Sunil completed his schooling from prestigious St. Columbas School post which he went abroad for studying. He holds a B. Sc. Degree in Chemical Engineering and a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering & Finance from Polytechnic Institute of New York. He loves Chinese food and is an avid sports enthusiast with interest in Cricket, Table Tennis and Golf.



Mr. Balinder Singh Dhillon
Executive Director


Mr. Balinder Singh Dhillon is an Executive Director with Singapore based Fortis Healthcare Global.

He serves on various boards including, as a Non-Executive Director of Fortis Healthcare (India) Limited, a company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India.

Having worked as counsel in practice and with corporate houses such as Hindustan Unilever Limited and INTRIA Items Inc., (a wholly owned subsidiary of CIBC Bank, Canada), he has more than 20 years of experience in corporate law, governance, risk management, and strategic planning and implementation.

Mr. Dhillon has in the past been associated with corporate boards including those of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, an India listed multi-billion dollar multinational pharmaceutical company and Parkway Holdings Ltd, a Singapore listed healthcare services company.

He graduated from the Punjab University and is a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and the Bar Council of India. He holds a Master of Laws degree from McGill University, Canada. As a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, he completed his accreditation under a Certificate of Qualification equivalent to a Graduate of Law through the Law Faculty, University of Toronto, Canada.



Mr. Harpal Singh
Non-Executive Director


Mr. Harpal Singh, graduated with a B.A. (Honors) degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi and holds a B.S. degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Public Affairs from the California State University at Hayward (C.S.C.H.), California, U.S.A. Mr. Harpal Singh has had diverse and wide-ranging experience of over 35 years in the corporate sector and has held senior positions in various TATA group companies, Hindustan Motors Limited, Mahindra and Mahindra Limited and Shaw Wallace. Mr. Harpal Singh serves and has been on the Board of some of the leading schools in the country which include The Doon School, The Shriram School, The Scindia School and The Yadavindra Public School. He is Vice Chairman of the Salwan Schools Trust. He is also a member of the Punjab Education Board. He is a Member of the Board and of the Executive Committee of Public Health Foundation of India. He is a Member of the Board of the Baba Farid University of Punjab and is an Advisory Board Member of the SRM University of Chennai. He is a Member of the Board of Advisors of the National Institute of Information Technologies (NIIT) University and a member of its Board of Management. Mr. Harpal Singh has recently been appointed by the Central Government as a member of the Board of the IIT, Indore. He is a member of the National Round Table on School Education constituted by the Hon'ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Kapil Sibal. He is also a Member of the Punjab Chief Minister's Advisory Committee on Industrial Growth and Development of Relevant Infrastructure. He was National Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Committee on Public Health and a Member of the CII National Committee on Healthcare and the National Committee on Primary and Secondary Education and past Chairman of CII Punjab State Council. He is also Chairman, CII Northern Region. Mr. Harpal Singh is a member of the Resource Persons Group for Delhi on Healthcare as appointed by the Lt. Governor of Delhi. He is a Governing Council Member of the Indian Red Cross Society (Delhi Chapter). He is founder Chairman Trustee of the Chronic Care Foundation and is a Board Member of the Durlabji Trust, which runs a large charitable hospital in Jaipur. He is also the Founder Chairman of the 'Nanhi Chhaan' Foundation, which is an inspirational initiative in support of the girl child and the environment. Mr. Singh is Chair of INDIA800 Foundation, India Office. He is currently the Chairman of the Save the Children, India and is also a Director of the Global Board of Save the Children International. Mr. Harpal Singh is a Member of the India-UK Round Table. He has chaired the 2nd and 3rd India Health Summit in New Delhi and was invited to deliver the prestigious "Friday Lecture" speak at the Royal Institute of Great Britain on Integrating Global Healthcare. As a member of the US-India Aspen Strategy Group, in December 2005, he presented a strategic opportunity position for collaboration between the US and Indian Healthcare Systems.



Justice S. S. Sodhi
Non-Executive Independent Director

Justice S.S. Sodhi, graduated with a B.A. (Honors) degree in Economics from Punjab University and is a Barrister at Law from Lincolns Inn, London. Justice S.S. Sodhi was the Chairperson of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India from 1997 until 2000. He has been a practicing advocate in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana for 10 years and was a member of the Punjab Superior Judicial Service. Justice S.S. Sodhi has also held the positions of Deputy Registrar (Research) at the Supreme Court of India, Legal Remembrancer to the Government of Punjab and Registrar of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana. Additionally, Justice S.S. Sodhi has been a Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Allahabad and the Lok Pal of Punjab. He is also a non-executive independent Director on the Board of Fidelity Trustee Company Private Limited.



Mr. Gurcharan Das
Non-Executive Independent Director


Mr. Gurcharan Das, graduated with Honors from Harvard University, U.S.A. and later attended Harvard Business School (AMP), Harvard University, U.S.A. Mr. Das is an author and a management consultant and advises a number of companies on global corporate strategy. He held the position of the chief executive officer, Procter and Gamble India from 1985 until 1992, and Chairman and Managing Director of Richardson Hindustan Limited from 1981 until 1985. He has over 30 years of experience working in six countries. He is an operating advisor and investor in Chrys Capital LLC. He is a regular speaker to the world's top corporations. He served on juries of the McKinsey award for the best Harvard Business Review article for 2005 and the U.S.$500,000 Milton Friedman Prize in 2010. Mr. Das serves on several government and private sector boards. He is the author of two best selling books, "India Unbound" and "The Difficulty of Being Good". He is a regular columnist for six Indian newspapers and a guest columnist for the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Foreign Affairs, and Financial Times.
     



Dr. P. S. Joshi


Dr. Preetinder Singh Joshi, an eminent Cardiologist, holds an MBBS degree in Medicine from Medical College, Amritsar (Punjab University, Chandigarh 1970) and MD degree in Cardiology & General Medicine from Maulana Azad Medical College (Delhi University 1974). (He stood first in the University and was declared best graduate of Medical College, Amritsar). He became a member of Royal College of Physicians, UK (MRCP) in 1978. He is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (FRCP) and Fellow Cardiological Society of India. He has over 40 years of experience in medical profession in India and abroad. He has held many positions of responsibility including Directorship and Head, Department of Medicine & Cardiology Divisions in Escorts Medical Centre (1981-84), Birla Centre for Medical Research, New Delhi (1984-85) & Maharaj Sawan Singh Charitable Hospital, Beas (1985-till date)
     


Lt. Gen. T. S Shergill
Non-Executive Independent Director


Lt. General Tejinder Singh Shergill PVSM, graduated from the National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla, where he was awarded the President's Gold Medal; he has a M.Sc. degree from the University from Madras and a Master of Military Science degree from the United States Command and General Staff College, Kansas, U.S.A. He has 40 years of experience in the military. He was Defense Attache at the Indian Embassy, Washington DC, USA; later commanded a Division in Jammu and Kashmir, a Corps in the North-East, both during counter militancy and counter insurgency operations; he was also Commandment of the Indian Military Academy. He is a former Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission.

Currently he is a Non-Executive Independent Director of Fortis Healthcare Ltd; Director University of Petroleum and Energy Studies; Director SBL Private Limited; Advisory of Santokhba Durlabhji Charitable Hospital; Advisory Council of GroupTminus; Graduate Life Coach of the International Coaching Federation, USA.

He lectures frequently on Leadership, Motivation, Energy, Terrorism and Insurgency. He is author of the book "Counter insurgency Support to a Host Nation", Lancer's Publications, 1987.

He has represented India in Horse Polo and Cycle Polo, and the Services, in Golf. His interests are in coaching, reading, writing, history, political and international affairs and yoga.
