IMPORTANT NOTICE: At Fortis Healthcare, we are fully supportive of the National priorities set out by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Further to the directives of the Government provided in their press release dated 8th Nov 2016, payments at Government hospitals can be made through 500 and 1000 Rupee denomination notes. In view of the hardship being caused to the large number of patients at private hospitals, we have made an urgent representation to the Government that this exemption should apply equally, for payments, at private hospitals. We are following up with the authorities and hope the Government will step in quickly to resolve this anomaly. Meanwhile, at Fortis hospitals across the country, we continue to accept payments through credit card, debit card and electronic banking transfers. As 500 and 1000 Rupee denomination notes are no longer legal tender we are only accepting 100 Rs and lower currency notes. As per Government regulation, a PAN card and legitimate ID proof is however required for payments in cash exceeding Rs 50,000. Meanwhile we continue to ensure that emergency cases get immediate medical attention without delay whatsoever and have put in more administrative staff and help desks to assist patients.

Dr. Arup Ratan Dutta is a renowned physician in the field of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation. He has more than 25 years of experience and is currently the Chief Nephrologist at Fortis Hospitals, Kolkata.

Dr. Dutta has been an instrumental person in bringing and practicing new technology like Chronic Peritoneal Dialysis, CRRT and Plasmapheresis in the region. Quality of dialysis has been his focus and he is credited to be having many patients on long term (10 – 12 years) dialysis.

After completing MBBS he joined the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh from where he obtained MD(Medicine) and DM (Nephrology) degrees in 1986 and 1989 respectively.

• He has held the several positions in the Indian Society of Nephrology (ISN) including that of Scientific Committee member and Zonal representative and Secretary of the Eastern Zone.
• He is one of the founder members of the Peritoneal Dialysis society of India (PDSI) and served as President (2008 – 2010).

He has achieved excellent results in kidney transplantation comparable with international standards. He has a large experience in spousal donor transplantation and Induction immune-suppression.

He was the recipient of ‘Young Asia Investigator’ award at the International Society for Peritoneal dialysis conference at Seoul, Korea in 1998. He also did a visiting fellowship in Toronto Hospitals, Canada.
