Dr. Raja Dhar is a renowned Pulmonologist and a Critical Care
Specialist with over 15 years of experience. Dr. Dhar is adept in all disciplines of Respiratory Medicine including airways disease, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, transplant, lung cancer, sleep medicine, lung infections including TB, and respiratory emergencies.
His forte is Interventional Pulmonology including electrocautery, APC, cryotherapy, stent placements and Medical Thoracoscopy. He is an academician, an enthusiastic researcher and passionate about teaching.
He went to UK after completing his MBBS and an MD in Respiratory Medicine in Calcutta, India. He did his PLAB exams and then trained initially as a Clinical Fellow/Senior House Officer and then as a Research and Training Fellow. During this period he did MRCP and also did Certificate of Clinical Education. He had a major declared commitment to teaching during the time and also carried out Clinical Research projects which he presented at National and International meetings. He then secured a LAT post followed by a NTN in Respiratory and General Medicine. During the period after getting into the NTN post he worked in District General Hospitals and tertiary referral hospitals with distinction. He completed Research projects and presented and published these during the course of his work. He then worked for more than 1 year as a Respiratory Consultant with special interest in Lung Cancer and Interventional bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy etc at a tertiary care centre in St James’ University Hospital in Leeds. He came back to Kolkata, India in Dec 2008 to serve his motherland and joined Apollo Gleneagles Hospital as a Respiratory Consultant. He worked there for 18 months and worked in General Pulmonology and been developing the Interventional Bronchoscopy services.
