Organ transplantation is the most effective treatment option for many diseases leading to end stage failure of heart, lungs, kidneys and the liver. It is estimated that there is an annual requirement for transplantation of 1,75,000 kidneys, 100,000 livers, 50,000 hearts and 20,000 lungs in the country. While donation of one kidney or a part of the liver is feasible from living donors, transplantation of organs like heart, lungs, pancreas and small intestine is possible only with donation following brain death.
Fortis healthcare provides the expertise and infrastructure to carry out organ transplantation, both from living and deceased donors, at centres of excellence in 15 hospitals across the country. Through our dedicated team from Fortis Organ Retrieval and Transplant (FORT), we provide 24-hour referral service for organ and tissue donation (Helpline: +91 8447743868; Email: firstname.lastname@example.org) to assist in the process of organ donation following brain death.
