The Cardiology Department at S.L. Raheja Hospital (a Fortis Associate) is committed to providing the most comprehensive program for cardiovascular care and peripheral vascular care with services ranging from prevention to open heart surgery.
The Hospital provides comprehensive heart care for patients, around the clock. Our care goes beyond excellent diagnostic and treatment procedures to post-treatment management.
The Department of Cardiology focuses on prevention of heart disease. The Department is equipped to deal with all conditions related to the heart.
Upon diagnosis, the Cardiologist coordinates the team activities to provide you with the best in current treatment.
Services provided by the Centre are:
• Surgery Medication
S.L.Raheja Hospital, Mahim has a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit with facilities for bed side and central monitoring of ECG, blood oxygen, blood pressure and central venous pressure for effectively managing the patient in the immediate post-operative period.
Non interventional Diagnostics include:
• 2 D Echocardiography with Colour Doppler
• Dobutamine Stress Test
• ECG Holter Monitoring of BP
• Pulmonary Function Test
• Stress Echocardiography Stress Test
Interventional cardiology refers to procedures that use catheters to open clogged arteries and improve blood flow to the heart. They include:
• Angioplasty and Stent Implants
• Cardiac Catheterisation
• Defibrillators/Pacemaker Insertions
• Electrophysiology Study
• Percutaneous septal-wall defect repair
• Percutaneous Valvuloplasty
• Peripheral Vessel Catheterisation
The Cath-Lab or Catheterisation Laboratory with flat panel technology provides the highest level of clarity for an angiogram that is critical in complex procedures where minor details and better image quality are needed.
Full range of adult cardiac surgery including CABG, valve replacements and congenital defects in adult patients that is performed in our modular Cardiac OT’s.
Over 98% of the CABG surgeries done are "beating heart" procedures, also known as Off Pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB).
Surgeons at S. L. Raheja (A Fortis Associate) Hospital routinely perform CABG surgeries through a minimally invasive procedure called Lower End Sternal Split (LESS), where the entire breast bone is not split open for the surgery. The procedure is performed through a 2- to 3-inch hole in the skin. Post-operative recovery is faster, the ICU stay is reduced significantly and there is negligible post-operative pain. The quality of life is also improved remarkably, since the patient is up and about in the shortest possible time. The healing of the wound typically occurs within a week, and the procedure leaves very small scar.
