Community Outreach programmes are designed as a part of our service ethos across all operational Hospitals. These programs run parallel in each of Hospitals and are designed to include those who may not be able to avail of the service because of being far away in remote location or due to constraints of affordability. These initiatives have been taken to fulfil our corporate social responsibility towards the society, where FEHJ will have an intense & on-going Outreach programme. Team FEHJ will organize Free Outstation OPDs, Free Cardiac & Multi-Specialty Camps, Public Awareness Lectures, Continuous Medical Education Programs for Medical Fraternity.

One of the objectives of Community Out Reach Program at FEHJ is to increase awareness amongst people about impact of preventable diseases like Cardiac, Diabetes, Cancer, Osteoporosis, Respiratory Diseases and Hepatitis within the region. These activities would be held across the region with active participation of local associations and various NGOs would focus on public awareness programs for Senior Citizen Forums, Police Forces, Corporate, Banks, Schools, Ex Servicemen to spread the message on prevention of disease.

Chetna

Chetna (meaning –awakening) is an attempt by FEHJ to reach out to as many underprivileged girl children (age 0-18) as possible, and contribute towards ensuring that no girl is deprived of her basic rights to health, hygiene and nutrition. It is an attempt to ensure that female children in our villages get equal food, healthcare and nutrition as the male children, and no longer does the girl child succumbs to diseases caused due to lack of vitamins, minerals and proteins.

There is a urgent need to change the mindset of the population so that the malady of treating the girl child as an inferior can be changed for all times to come. Taking into account our country, the figures are extremely alarming, which has been the greatest learning:
  • It is estimated that annually 5 million female foetus are aborted in India, even though laws have been passed to stop this despicable practice.
  • In India alone, more than 10,000 girl babies are victims of infanticide each year
  • Every sixth girl child's death is due to gender discrimination
50% of all sexual assaults are committed against girls age 15 or younger.
  • The leading cause of death for girls age 15-19 is complications from pregnancy.
Objectives of Chetna

The objective of the Chetna project is to ensure that the girl child in this region has better health care facilities available to her. The time has come to make a change, to begin a movement that assures every girl a life with dignity. It is time that the girl child is celebrated for who she is and what she means for the future of our country. It is time to end the existing discrimination against the girl child in her access to nutrition and physical and mental health services that endanger her current and future health. It is time to act now- to ensure that the girl child is not ill treated, exploited and abused!

Starting with hymns and prayers, these meetings would help the survivors to live a meaningful life after Cancer.
