| Invasive Cardiology
At Fortis Healthcare we take pride in performing all known invasive procedures and we have a success rate equaling other international world-class hospitals performing similar procedures. A team of doctors who are experts in their field with many years of experience in invasive cardiology performs these procedures. These include electro physiology studies, coronary angiographies, and revascularization procedures including PTCA, directional atherectomy, rotational atherectomy and coronary stent placement. We have a dedicated adult, pediatrics and electro physiologist team and there are two cath labs which function 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty at fortis hospital is the treatment of choice for any patient who presents to us with chest pain suggestive of heart attack. We can confidently claim to have one of the lowest cath lab transfer time from the emergency room. .
Our electro physiology unit is actively engaged in arrhythmia management as well as in performing complex procedures such as Heart failure device, AICD implantation, radio frequency ablation and pacemaker implantation.
Our pediatrics invasive cardiology unit has performed various device closure procedures and many complex cardiac congenital disease patients routinely undergo cath procedure at fortis healthcare.
Our cath labs are well supported by well-equipped CCU units and a team of doctors takes care of post procedure patients. All modern state of art facilities like artificial ventilator, IABP, bedside central monitoring are abundantly available here.
Invasive cardiology involves angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker implantation and various other procedures mentioned below performed in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab:
- Coronary / Peripheral / Renal / Carotid Angiography .
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary/Peripheral angioplasty /carotid with
or without stent including the use of Rotablator
- Permanent Pacemaker Implantation (PPI) - Single / Double Chamber.
- Biventricular Pacemaker (Heart Failure
Device Implantation)
- Electrophysiology Study (EP study).
- Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) .
- Ventricular / Atrial Septal Defect /Patent
Ductosus Arteriosus device Closure
(VSD / ASD /PDA device closure).
- IVC Filter Implantation
- Congenital Cath Study including Oximetry
analysis.
- Balloon Mitral /Aortic/Pulmonary Valvuloplasty
- AICD (Automatic implantable cardioverter Defibrillator).
Angiography
It is a diagnostic procedure where in a dye is injected in the heart through a peripheral blood vessel to look for the status and patency of coronary blood vessels.
Angioplasty
Procedure where a stent is placed inside the blocked heart blood vessels to make them patent. (stent - is a spring like coil).
Pace maker
Pace maker is an artificial device that is placed externally connected / internally placed in the heart to regularize the rhythm of the heart (to produce electrical impulse to the heart).
