A team of accomplished gynecologists led by the renowned Dr Salrla Malhotra, are committed to making this department a unique center for maternity requirements. Along with the nursing amenities, and highly experienced specialists, our Operation Theatres and good neonatal care are equipped to handle emergencies and caesarian sections as and when the need arises. The department also proposes to start Lamaze classes which are antenatal classes for exercises in pregnancy.
Fortis Paalna was inaugurated by Mrs & Mr H K Dua, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune, Chandigarh .Our CEO & MD, Mr Shivinder M Singh and Vice President-Operations, Mr Jasbir Grewal came to FHM on March 20 for the inauguration.
Mr. Shivinder Mohan Singh, MD, Fortis Healthcare Limited, expressed his concern for the widely prevalent evil of female foetocide . He said that the girl child is very precious and if the girl child is looked after properly and given the right education, she will no longer be a burden on the society. Instead, it will contribute to a great extent in controlling female foeticide”.
Congratulating the dedicated team of Fortis at the launch of Fortis Paalna, he said, “having a baby can change your whole life and we, at Fortis wanted to make this experience of having a baby very special. 5 years from now, Fortis Hospital Mohali should resonate as a very good Obstetrics and Gynaecology facility the way it has for the Cardiac facility”.
Expressing his joy, Dr. Ashok V Chordiya, Medical Director, Fortis Hospital Mohali, said, “Labour pregnancy is not a disease. It is a natural phenomenon and we wanted to create a pleasant and a happy environment to make this experience a memorable one. Our aim is to constantly improve in the betterment of patient care”.

A skit was presented by the members of CHEETNA programme in which the children highlighted that every child is important irrespective of being a girl or boy. The skit was called ‘Chota sa dil hai, chooti si aasha”The skit was very well presented and loved by the audience members. Mr. Shivinder M Singh appreciated the efforts put in by the children.
