Fortis Healthcare operates Kulsoom Shariff for knee replacement
NEW DELHI: Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif, wife of deported former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, underwent knee-replacement surgery at Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj on Tuesday.
The 56-year-old Kulsoom is under observation in the ICU and her condition is described as "stable", sources said.
Fortis Healthcare officials refused to comment on the operation saying that they were bound by strict confidentiality orders. Kulsoom was admitted on Monday under the care of orthopaedic surgeon Dr Ashok Rajagopal whose team operated on her. When contacted, Dr Rajagopal’s staff confirmed the operation had been performed but refused to give details.
