On 7th July 2010, Fortis Escorts Amritsar admitted a new born baby, whose mother had attempted to flush him down the toilet of the flight she was aboard. The baby came to us with the toilet seat stuck around his head and serious injuries on his nose and neck. An electric saw had to be used to cut through the ring, while cotton buds were used to prevent deafening the baby. Water had to be poured constantly on his nose to save him from the heat of the electric saw.

After the operation, the baby was admitted to the ICU where his injuries were treated. An added complication arose when the mother refused to feed the child. After some resistance from her side, the baby is now being fed with her extracted breast milk. Many families have come forward to adopt the baby whose mother has decided to give him up. We are awaiting orders from the respective authorities to hand over the baby to his new family.
