CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR NEUROSCIENCES
CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR NEUROSCIENCES
The centre offers a super-specialty setup that is equipped to provide complete range of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services for all brain, spine & peripheral nerve disorders.
The highly professional and experienced neurosciences team is committed to providing the highest standards of surgical & medical treatment backed by some of the most advanced technology available in Tri-city and North of Delhi. The team comprises of competent neurologists, neuro-surgeons, neuro-interventionists, psychologist, neuro-nurses and rehabilitation experts working in tandem to deliver world class healthcare.
The department is focused on providing comprehensive care to the patients suffering from all kinds of neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s, stroke, epilepsy, paralytic disorders, sleep disorders, multidisciplinary assessment and management of multiple sclerosis and headaches. The team is adept at handling all complex problems with the help of state-of-the-art neuro-diagnostic, imaging and surgical facilities.

STATE-OF-THE ART TECHNOLOGIES

  • NEURONAVIGATION
Neuronavigation is a computer-assisted device to guide or ‘navigate’ within the confines of the skull or vertebral column during surgery. Neuronavigation is a computer-assisted device to guide or ‘navigate’ within the confines of the skull or vertebral column during surgery. One of the biggest advantages of using Neuronavigation is that one can do Stereotactic ‘Biopsy in a frameless manner provides intraoperative orientation to the surgeon, helps planning a precise surgical approach to the lesion and defines the surrounding neurovascular and other vital structures. It can incorporate other data e.g. tractography endoscopic, cerebral angiography and also magneto - encephalography - encephalography. It helps to avoid injury to the eloquent areas of the brain during surgery and enables safe radical resection of the lesions. One of the biggest advantages of using Neuronavigation is that one can do Stereotactic Biposy in a frameless manner.

    NEUROENDOSCOPY
Neuroendoscopy is a minimally-invasive procedure in which one operates through small holes in the skull or through the mouth or nose. It enables access to deeper areas of the brain and also allows removal of lesions minimizing harm to surrounding structures. It is a small telescope-like device equipped with a high-resolution video camera to allow the neurosurgeon to navigate and access the lesion. Its use is indicated in treatment of hydrocephalus, for biopsy, in excision of lesions and tumours and also for performing spine surgery in a minimally invasive way. Neuroendoscopy results in less pain, faster recovery than traditional open surgery with good cosmetic results scarring.

    INTRAOPERATIVE NEUROPHYSIOLOGICAL MONITORING
Neurological deficits after brain surgery or spinal procedures can cause devastating paralysis, muscle weakness, pain, bladder/bowel disturbances, and sexual dysfunction. Early warning & recognition of neurological injury during surgery is critical so that appropriate precautions and treatment can be initiated to minimise the cascade of indirect injury. Intraoperative Neuro Monitoring (IONM) using electrophysiological techniques can predict and minimise the risk of injury during cranial & spine surgeries by providing real time information of changes in electrical potentials in the nerves and tracts. It allows the surgical team to continuously make real time adjustments, thus reducing the risk to the patient.

    PENTERO MICROSCOPE
It is the latest Neurosurgical Operating Microscope with easy maneuverability and clear optical system. The device has added facility of intraoperative florescent angiography for safety in vascular surgery, florescent technique assistance for better tumour visualization & excision, add-on facility for image fusion / integration with facility for coupling with endoscope and neuronavigation.
