Dr. Sanyal was awarded the Fellowship at Vancouver General Hospital, BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver, Canada, in all types of Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplants including Autograft, Related and Unrelated Allogenic transplant and Umbilical Cord Transplant in all types of Leukemia, Myeloma, Lymphoma and bone marrow failure syndromes like Aplastic Anemia, Myelodysplastic Syndromes etc. Here, he honed his skills in the gamut of pre-transplant conditioning regimen as well as post-transplant immunosuppressive management. He was also a certified Fellow in Lymphoma at the BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver, Canada. His work experience included chemotherapeutic management in all types of indolent and aggressive lymphomas. Area of Expertise: Bone Marrow Transplants including autologous, related and unrelated Allogenic transplant in leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma and bone marrow failure diseases, Bone Marrow Harvesting for collection of stem cells,Bone marrow failure syndromes like Aplastic Anemia, Myelodysplastic Syndromes, Specialized procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, Laboratory work which includes slide reporting of peripheral smear and bone marrow aspirate, interpretation and analysis of specialized hematological investigations which includes coagulation and hemolytic workups, hemoglobinopathies, cytogenetics, immunophenotyping, flow cytometric assay for marker studies and blood banking techniques, Managing critically ill ICU patients including obstetric hematology. Dr. Sanyal is especially intrigued by the enigmas prevalent in the vast domain of blood related disorders and is actively involved in assisting his surgical and medical colleagues to find out causes of anemias, thrombocytopenia (deficiency of blood platelets) and pancytopenia (decrease in all three blood cell types) as well as their management. He has co-authored papers and journals in varied topics of blood related conditions and participates in CMEs and seminars to expand his expertise and glean from valuable exchanges within his fraternity.
