Dr Joy Narayan Chakraborty is a renowned Urologist with over 25 years of experience. He had his basic qualifications of MBBS and MS from Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati, in 1996; after that, he completed DNB (Surgery) from NBE, New Delhi. In 2001, Dr Joy completed Urology training in DNB (Urology) in Kolkata under the guidance of Prof. Bimalendu Mukherjee and Dr Shivaji Basu. After a short stint as a trainee at AIIMS, New Delhi, he started his career as a Consultant Urologist at Max Superspeciality Hospital, Delhi, in 2006, followed by a senior consultant Urologist at Apollo Hospital, Guwahati. After that, Dr Joy continued with his academic journey and completed FRCS Edinburgh, FRCS England, FRCS urology and ChM Urology (Edinburgh University) and has been associated with NHS, UK as a consultant. He is the recipient of the prestigious Henry Wade Medal from the University of Edinburgh as the best student. His academic bent of mind is reflected in his completing a PG Certificate (Medical education) from Cardiff University and a prestigious fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK. He is associated with Edinburgh University as a teaching faculty. He is a highly skilled surgeon in Laser, Laparoscopic and Endourology surgery; and has a particular interest in Uro-oncology, Stones, Prostate and Female reconstructive surgeries.
