Dr Rakesh Kochhar is a renowned specialist in Gastroenterology with over 40 years of experience. He has been associated with the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) from where he retired as a Professor and Head of Department, Gastroenterology. He has been a pioneer in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy in this part of the country. Dr Kochhar has trained over 200 gastroenterologists and has demonstrated his skills in many endoscopy workshops. He has close to 500 research papers to his credit with many innovations in his name. He has been a member of national task forces on Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Celiac Disease and Intestinal Tuberculosis. Widely travelled, he has been a guest faculty in universities in the US, Japan and Italy. Dr Kochhar has a keen interest in health education & has written on health issues in several National Newspapers. He has held various prestigious positions in the past such as President, Indian Society of Gastroenterology; President - Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India; Founder President, Crohns Colitis Foundation India; International Committee Member, American Society of GI Endoscopy; Member Guidelines Committee, World Gastroenterology Organization.
