Post-menopausal bleeding occurs in a woman’s vagina after she has undergone menopause. If a woman does not experience vaginal bleeding for a period of 12 months, she is considered to be in menopause.
If a woman experiences bleeding or spotting after this one year duration since her last period, it is not normal. In most cases, it is treatable and not a cause of worry. However, occasionally it is a sign of a more serious disease and should be checked by a doctor. When detected early, most conditions causing bleeding after menopause, including cancer of the womb, can be treated successfully. At Fortis La Femme, such treatments are provided by experienced doctors that prioritize women’s health and support them through the different stages of their life.

Before the post-menopausal period, a woman may experience perimenopause. During perimenopause, which is the menopause transition period, your periods may be irregular before they stop. Perimenopause begins 4-5 years before menopause, missing periods during this time is commonplace and not unusual. It is possible, that a woman may get pregnant during this period. If you have missed your period and are not sure that you are in menopause, consider a pregnancy test. Due to these factors, the post-menopausal period can be a confusing and oftentimes challenging phase in a woman’s life. At Fortis La Femme, we understand the varying needs of a woman and provide a wide range of services that cater to such needs.
