Fortis Hospital Mohali celebrated the second week of November as Fire Safety Week with a series of activities. A Mock Fire Drill in association with the Fire Department, Mohali, was organized at the hospital. The drill was also conducted as part of the international standards of fire and safety preparedness and focused on patient evacuation in case of an emergency.
During the mock drill, a Hydraulic Platform Ladder was used. The ladder is used for evacuation from tall buildings or roof tops in case of a disaster. Dummy patients were evacuated from the roof of Fortis as part of the drill. The hospital staff was also given hands-on training on the usage of the ladder in case of an emergency or disaster.
Hospital staff took part in a fire prevention rehearsal under the instruction and cooperation of Mohali Fire Department. This exercise was aimed at training the staff in practical ways to react during a crisis, and how to navigate out of dangerous areas while helping to retain order and security.
