With over 40 years of experience in nephrology, Dr. Ramesh Rao serves as Senior Consultant Nephrologist and Head of the Department of Nephrology at S.L. Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, Mumbai. He has been providing nephrology care to patients across Mumbai, including Mahim, Andheri, and surrounding areas. Dr. Rao completed his MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, followed by MRCP (UK) and DNB in Nephrology. He underwent advanced nephrology training at Guy’s Hospital Medical College and King’s College of Medicine, London, under the guidance of Prof. Stewart Cameron and Prof. Victor Parsons. A Diplomate of the National Board in Nephrology and Member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK, he specializes in the management of acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and kidney transplantation. His expertise also includes haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, intensive care nephrology, renal biopsies, catheter insertion for dialysis, and vascular access procedures such as fistula creation.
