Program Structure

• Candidate will be posted in Cath Lab and assist cath procedures.
• In a gradual manner, candidate is trained and assists in diagnostic procedures followed by intervention.
• As his/her expertise grows, he/she will be independently doing procedures.
• Candidate is required to maintain a log book for record of training (with details of clinical procedures performed / assisted)
• Other than coronary work we also do structural heart cases, peripheral vascular interventions, pediatric and electrophysiology work and candidate is given ample exposure and opportunity to learn them.
• Within one month of joining candidate is required to choose a topic of his/her interest after discussing with his/her guide.
• Candidate is required to submit two publications / Dissertations and participate in departmental seminars during fellowship.
• *The program provides excellent hands on training opportunities in various aspects of coronary, structural and endovascular interventions.

Goals & Objectives

• Training on interventional equipment such as guiding catheters, balloons, stents and devices.
• Didactic discussions on appropriate interventional techniques for specific lesions.
• Insertion and management of IABP, Impella and percutaneous LVAD.
• Use of Rotational and Orbital Atherectomy, rheolytic atherectomy (Angiojet) and manual aspiration thrombectomy.
• Selection and deployment of appropriate distal embolic protection devices.
• Setup, perform and interpret FFR, IVUS and OCT during this time period.
• Selection of patients and performing balloon aortic and mitral valvuloplasty.
• Perform intervention in chronic total occlusions (CTO) by anterograde and retrograde approaches.
• Knowledge of peripheral vascular disease, patient selection, and diagnostic and invasive endovascular procedures including iliac/CFA/SFA interventions.
• Encouraged to take an active role in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedures as well.
• Fellows are also expected to have full understanding of endovascular interventions.
• *There is no commitment on our part as how many minimum No. of above-mentioned procedures candidate will get to perform.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates who have prior cardiovascular training in respective countries, who wish to pursue interventional cardiology as their primary practice area and want to upgrade their skills
