Dr. Arun Bal

With an illustrious career spanning over four decades, Dr. Arun Bal serves as Director of Diabetic Foot Surgery at S. L. Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, Mumbai. Dr. Arun Bal is one of the best diabetic foot surgeon/podiatrist in Mumbai, India. He earned his MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from the University of Mumbai in 1977 and completed a Ph.D. in Political Science on "Healthcare as a Human Right" in 2005. He has been at the forefront of diabetic foot surgery since 1986. His professional leadership includes serving as Ex Editor of the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics, Ex Convener of the Ethics Committee at the Medical Council of India (2010–2013), President of the Association for Consumer Action on Safety & Health (ACASH), Founder President & Patron of the Diabetic Foot Society of India, Ex Secretary of the International Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons in Denmark, Vice President of the International Surgical Society for Limb Salvage, and Chief Patron of the Podiatry Surgical Society. In 2019, he received the Annual Prize and Oration from Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, USA, for his major contributions to diabetic limb salvage. He is currently the only member from Asia on the Expert Panel for Charcot Foot Guidelines of the International Working Group on Charcot Foot (IWGDF).
