Dr. H.D. Koppikar

With 40 years of experience in ophthalmology, Dr. Hemang Koppikar is a senior Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and management of retinal disorders. He completed his MBBS from Bombay University in 1981 and MS (Ophthalmology) from the same university in 1985, and also holds D.O.M.S. and C.P.S. qualifications in ophthalmology. In 1987, he underwent advanced training in laser photocoagulation under Dr. Kanti V. Mody, Dr. Ashok C. Shroff, and Dr. Peter Hamilton at Moorfields Eye Hospital, UK. Currently associated with S.L. Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, Mahim, Mumbai, Dr. Koppikar focuses on medical retina, diabetic retinopathy, laser treatment for retinal conditions, and other medical retinal disorders. He played a key role in establishing the department for retinal laser treatment in 1989. His professional affiliations include the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society (MOS), and the Bombay Ophthalmologists Association. He was awarded the Dr. V.H. Majumdar Prize for securing the first rank in MS Ophthalmology.
