Dr. Hemant Pathare

Focused on advanced cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Hemant Pathare is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon associated with S.L. Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, Mahim, Mumbai. His areas of specialization include heart and lung transplant surgeries, high-risk coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), redo open heart operations, and implantation of mechanical circulatory assist devices. He completed his MBBS, MS, and MCh from Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, followed by multiple fellowships in the surgical treatment of heart failure at TPCH Brisbane and SVH Sydney, Australia. Dr. Pathare is an Australian board-certified Heart and Lung Transplant Surgeon and has independently performed over 4500 CABG and valve surgeries, while also participating in more than 140 heart transplants, 69 double lung transplants, and 20 permanent LVAD implantations. He has proctored heart transplant surgeries in Gujarat and Telangana, served as specialist faculty at cardiothoracic surgical conferences in India, and implanted ventricular assist devices for both temporary and permanent cardiac support in patients with intractable heart failure. Dr. Pathare also performed Western India’s first successful bridging of a Bi-VAD onto a heart transplant in a critically ill patient with multi-organ failure. During his transplant fellowship, he assisted in the world’s first two successful Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) heart transplants using the Transmedics Organ Care System at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney.
