Dr. Mohammed Shakeel Sillat is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore, with extensive training and experience in the diagnosis and management of complex infections. He secured All India Rank 1 in NEET Super Specialty (Infectious Diseases) and completed advanced specialty training at Christian Medical College Vellore, one of India’s most renowned tertiary care academic medical institution. He completed his MBBS from Pt. J. N. M. Medical College, Raipur (2015) and pursued DNB in General Medicine from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi (2019). After completing his DM in Infectious Diseases in 2023, he continued working at the Department of Infectious Diseases at Christian Medical College Vellore, where he played an instrumental role in establishing a specialized Travel and Transplant Vaccination Clinic and contributed to the formulation of institutional and state-level antibiotic stewardship and antimicrobial policy guidelines. Dr. Shakeel specializes in the evaluation and management of a broad spectrum of infections affecting multiple organ systems, including infections of the brain, heart, lungs, liver, bones, and joints, as well as infections in immunocompromised individuals and transplant recipients. He has significant experience in managing severe and complicated infections in hospitalized and critically ill patients and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. He is particularly involved in patients with fever of unknown origin (PUO), rare infections and difficult-to-diagnose infectious conditions. His clinical interests include infections in high-risk populations such as patients with HIV and cancer, transplant infectious diseases, adult vaccination, travel medicine, and antimicrobial stewardship. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Shakeel remains actively engaged in academic research and teaching. His work has been published in leading international infectious diseases journals.
