Dr. Prashant Rao

Bringing over 20 years of experience in surgical gastroenterology, Dr. Prashant R. Rao specializes in the management of gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) diseases. His expertise includes both open and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgical techniques, and he also performs diagnostic endoscopic procedures. Currently associated with S.L. Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, Mahim, Mumbai, he provides comprehensive surgical care for benign and malignant disorders of the digestive system. His clinical practice includes the treatment of hernias, gallstones, appendicitis, and colorectal conditions. In the field of surgical oncology, Dr. Rao offers multimodal treatment approaches for cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and HPB system, performs advanced laparoscopic surgeries for colon and rectal cancer, and treats anorectal diseases such as piles and fissures. Alongside his clinical work, he has served as teaching faculty in Surgical Gastroenterology and is the author of three medical textbooks.
