Menu options shrink as Indians become more prone to allergies
Shirin Gadbade can’t remember what a rasgulla tastes like, and says she doesn’t know where to look when dessert time rolls around and everyone helps themselves to ice-cream.
Gadbade, 37, a Mumbai-based communications manager, is lactose intolerant, which means no Indian sweets or paneer or chocolate with greater milk content.
“The only time I drank milk without throwing up was probably when I was breastfed,” she says.

With no end sight for the wait in the queues at banks and ATMs post-demonetisation, residents can take comfort in a noble gesture from some private hospitals and doctors. They are offering medication and consultation to people in the queues undergoing physical and mental stress.
Irrfan Khan, Deepa Malik walk in Gurugram to create awareness on organ donation
On the occasion of Indian Organ Donation Day today, city-based private hospital Fortis Healthcare organized a walkathon in Gurugram where leading actor Irrfan Khan and Paralympics medalist Deepa Malik walked with 2000 participants to spread awareness about the need on organ donation.
The 7.5 kilometer long walk started from Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) situated near HUDA City Centre today morning. Walkathons were also held in Mumbai, Chennai and Mohali to raise awareness on organ donation across the nation.
