Dr. Atul Mathur is the Executive Director of Interventional Cardiology and Chief of the Cath Lab at Fortis Escort Heart Institute, New Delhi, and also the president of the Indian Council for Carotid Therapeutics India. A pioneer in complex coronary procedures, and also specializes in the field of Endovascular (Carotid stenting, Aortic Graft Stenting, Peripheral arterial and venous Angioplasty) and Structural heart (TAVR, Mitra Clip, LAAO, BMV, Adult VSD closure) interventions. The first Indian doctor to obtain a US patent for a medical device that is used in performing Carotid Artery Stenting. Established centre of excellence In addition to performing thousands of such procedures, he has created a centre for excellence from which year after year courses for training Indian physicians in the field of Carotid interventions are organized. Several hundred research publications are also included in his contributions that have been acknowledged by experts nationally as well as internationally. Several procedures performed for the first time in the country by him are now followed elsewhere. A significant contribution to his present profile comes from his training and work experience at The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, United States.
