Dr. Poonam Sidana

Dr. Poonam Sidana is a distinguished Paediatrician and Neonatologist with over 30 years of experience in clinical care, neonatal intensive care, academics and healthcare leadership. She is currently associated with Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh as Senior Director & Unit Head – Pediatrics and Neonatology. Dr. Sidana has extensive expertise in managing critically ill newborns, premature babies, extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infants and high-risk neonates. She has played a key role in establishing and leading Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), as well as developing neonatal transport services, clinical protocols, nursing training programmes and structured high-risk neonatal follow-up services. She completed her MBBS and MD in Paediatrics from Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, and underwent advanced Neonatal Intensive Care training at the Women's & Children's Hospital, North Adelaide, South Australia. She has also completed a Diploma in Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics from the Centre for Childhood Development and Disabilities, Bengaluru. Prior to joining Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, Dr. Sidana held senior leadership positions at C. K. Birla Hospital, Punjabi Bagh and Max Super Speciality Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, where she established and led Level III NICU services and contributed to the development of comprehensive paediatric and neonatal care programmes. Dr. Sidana has held several leadership roles with the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) and has served as an NNF assessor for NICU accreditation across India. She is currently serving as Chairperson of the NNF Accreditation Approval Committee for NICUs in 2026. She is also a National Faculty for neonatal resuscitation programmes, a Master Trainer for the Navjat Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK), and a BLS Trainer.
