Rapid neuroimaging confirmed a large vessel occlusion. Within the critical window, the Fortis Neurology and Neuro-Interventional teams sprang into action.
Following Mechanical Thrombectomy, the patient required decompressive craniectomy — a complex procedure to relieve pressure from brain swelling. This life-saving surgery was skillfully performed by Dr Harmandeep Singh Brar, Consultant, Neurosurgery. “Early decompressive surgery can significantly reduce mortality and improve recovery in patients with raised intracranial pressure,” said Dr Brar.
The patient began showing signs of neurological recovery soon after and has now regained near-normal function.
