Fortis Hospitals Report Rise in Flu Cases across Bengaluru; Doctors Urge Timely Care
Bengaluru, August 18, 2025: Fortis Hospitals in Bengaluru have observed an increase in flu cases over the past few days, with nearly half of the daily patient inflow showing influenza-like symptoms. On average, about 10 out of every 20 patients report flu-related complaints. While the majority of cases remain mild, complications such as pneumonia may arise in some patients. The predominant strain detected is Influenza A (H3N2), and patients are being managed with antivirals as per the protocols.
At Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, 4 to 5 Influenza/RSV cases are recorded daily. Dr. Vivek Padegal, Additional Director, Pulmonology, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road emphasized, “We have seen a gradual rise in Influenza RSV cases, with several patients presenting flu like symptoms each day. While most are mild, individuals with pre-existing respiratory conditions should remain cautious of possible complications. Seeking timely medical advice is important to ensure proper care.”
At Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, the numbers are comparatively higher, with 7 to 10 flu patients each day. Dr. Majeed Pasha, Consultant, Pulmonology, Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi added, “Our hospital has experienced an increase in flu cases recently, averaging 7 to 10. Influenza A with H3N2 is the most common strain detected. While antiviral treatments remain effective, preventive steps such as good respiratory hygiene, mask usage in crowded settings, and avoiding self-medication will help limit the spread.”
Meanwhile, Fortis Cunningham Road is reporting 1 to 2 Influenza/RSV cases daily. Dr. Sudarshan KS, Consultant, Pulmonology, Fortis Hospital, Cunningham Road explained, “Though the numbers are lower compared to other hospitals, we are seeing a gradual upward trend. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment continue to support effective patient management.”
Fortis Hospitals advise Bengaluru residents to stay cautious, practice respiratory hygiene, and seek medical consultation if flu symptoms persist or worsen.
