FORTIS KALYAN MARKS FATHER’S DAY WITH FREE UROLOGY SCREENINGS
~ The two-day camp (June 14th & 15th) witnessed participation of over 150 individuals who benefitted from the checkup, expert consultations, and advanced screenings ~
Kalyan, June 15th, 2025: Fortis Hospital Kalyan hosted Prostate checkup camps for men over the age of 40, as part of a special initiative to mark International Father’s Day. The two-day camp, led by Dr Pradeep Vyavahare, Consultant Urologist, Uro-Oncologist, and Kidney Transplant Surgeon, hosted on 14th and 15th June was conducted at two locations, drawing XX participants across Kalyan, Dombivali and Thakurli. The camp saw encouraging participation from men who received prostate screening, consultation, guidance on preventive care, and need-based advanced screening.
The camps provided one-on-one consultation to all participants, helping address their personal concerns and frequently asked questions. Dr Pradeep Vyavahare also delivered an informative talk on early symptoms and timely management of urological conditions, addressing key topics such prostate health, Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), Kidney Stones, urinary difficulties, enlarged Prostate, etc. The session also offered attendees an opportunity to engage with healthcare professionals, ask them questions on prostate health, and learn about preventive measures and treatments available.
Participants in the checkup camp underwent basic screening, and those requiring further evaluation were advised to undergo appropriate diagnostic tests. This initiative was appreciated by attendees including senior citizens and working professionals, groups who often delay seeking medical attention due to time constraints and lack of awareness around urinary health.
Speaking about the initiative Dr Ashutosh Pandey, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital, Kalyan said, “Fathers are often the backbone of the family, and they constantly prioritize the needs of the family while neglecting their own health. This Father’s Day we wanted to encourage men to take charge of their health and wellbeing & focus on preventive health checks. Urological health plays a significant role in men’s overall well-being. Conditions such as prostate enlargement, UTIs, and kidney issues often present with subtle or no symptoms, and if left unchecked, can lead to serious complications. With this camp, we aimed to raise awareness and reinforce the importance of early detection. We remain committed to building healthier communities by making preventive care more accessible.”
Dr Pradeep Vyavahare, Consultant Urologist, Uro-Oncologist, and Kidney Transplant Surgeon, Fortis Hospital Kalyan, added, “Approximately 20% of men can benefit from early screening, which is often overlooked. Early detection and screening for prostate cancer improve health outcomes, allow for timely intervention, and stop further complications. Routine screening is even more crucial because the symptoms are frequently not detected until the disease progresses to an advanced stage. Therefore, by hosting a checkup camp, we can support and encourage men, especially those who ignore their medical well-being. This will help us reduce the burden of such advanced-stage diseases and ensure a higher quality of life.”
To further sustain the conversation around men’s urological health Fortis Hospital Kalyan today also launched a month-long survey aimed at understanding the community’s awareness and health seeking behaviour. This initiative is part of Fortis Hospital Kalyan’s larger commitment to fostering community health through early detection and awareness—particularly in areas of men’s health that often remain overlooked.
