Fortis Mohali Launches North India’s First MOSES 2.0 Laser for Incision-Free Treatment of Kidney Stones and Enlarged Prostate

- Advanced laser technology enables greater precision, reduced bleeding, shorter procedures and faster recovery, even in complex cases -

Chandigarh, August 25, 2026: Fortis Hospital Mohali has installed the cutting-edge MOSES 2.0 Holmium Laser system, making it the first Hospital in North India to offer this state-of-the-art technology. Designed to treat kidney stones and enlarged prostates (BPH) (two of the most prevalent urological conditions) the system positions Fortis Mohali as a premier center for advanced urological care in India.

The MOSES 2.0 laser system performs two core minimally invasive, incision-free procedures through the body's natural urinary passages, eliminating the need for external cuts or stitches:

Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) for Kidney Stones: Using a ultra-thin, flexible instrument navigated through the urinary tract, the laser pulverizes complex or hard-to-reach kidney stones into microscopic dust, allowing them to pass naturally and painlessly without external incisions.

Moses Enucleation of the Prostate (MOLEP) for Enlarged Prostate (BPH): To treat non-cancerous prostate enlargement obstructing urine flow, the laser precisely core-dissects and removes the blocking tissue. This technique effectively manages even massive prostates, providing a permanent, minimally invasive alternative to traditional open surgeries

The introduction of MOSES 2.0 is expected to significantly strengthen Fortis Mohali's advanced urology capabilities and provide patients from Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring regions access to laser-based treatments that have traditionally been concentrated in major metropolitan centres.

Dr Rohit Dadhwal, Senior Consultant Urologist, Uro-Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon, Fortis Institute of Robotic Surgery, Fortis Hospital Mohali, said, “MOSES 2.0 represents an important advancement in laser urology because it allows us to deliver energy more efficiently and precisely to the stone or prostate tissue being treated. For patients, this can translate into shorter procedures, less bleeding and faster recovery. With RIRS, we can treat kidney stones through the urinary passage without any incision, while MOLEP allows us to remove the obstructing portion of an enlarged prostate, including in patients with very large prostates.”

The launch of MOSES 2.0 further reinforces Fortis Hospital Mohali's commitment to bringing advanced surgical technologies and specialised urological care closer to patients across North India.
