Fortis Anandapur organises series of events to mark World Breastfeeding Week

Fortis Anandapur, Kolkata, organised a series of events during August 1-7, 2024, as part of World Breastfeeding Week. The events aimed at celebrating, enriching knowledge and creating awareness among new mothers as well as staff members about the essentiality of breastfeeding.

The week began with an inauguration ceremony, followed by an introductory session on breastfeeding by Sister Chandralekha Pyne. The next day,  Dr Aparna Biswas, Senior Resident – Paediatrics, conducted a training session for nurses on breastfeeding techniques and troubleshooting. Day 3 featured a session on the ‘Importance of Early Breastfeeding,’ conducted by Dr Sharad Purkait, Senior Resident - Paediatrics. A poster competition was held on Day 4 on the topic of exclusive breastfeeding, followed by a session on ‘Complications and Contraindications of Breastfeeding’ by Dr Ritika Ghosh Dastidar, Consultant – Paediatrics. Dr Sumita Saha, Consultant – Paediatrics, led a session on ‘Kangaroo Mother Care’ the next day. A quiz competition was organised as part of the finale, apart from a brief session on ‘Breast Milk Fortifiers,’ led by Dr Avisikta Das, Senior Resident - Paediatrics. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
