ortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh commemorated World Breastfeeding Awareness Week 2026 by organising a comprehensive awareness programme that brought together expecting parents, new mothers, families and healthcare professionals to promote breastfeeding awareness, maternal health and newborn care. The initiative reflected the hospital's commitment to empowering parents through education, expert guidance and compassionate care.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Naveen Sharma, Vice President & Facility Director, followed by an insightful panel discussion led by renowned specialists from the hospital. The expert panel included Dr. Vishal Gupta, Additional Director – Neonatology; Dr. Uma Vaidyanathan, Director – Obstetrics & Gynaecology; Dr. Arun Kumar, Additional Director – Paediatrics; Dr. Mamta Mittal, Director – Obstetrics & Gynaecology; and Dr. Manishika Patait (PT), Centre Manager – Mamma Mia.
During the discussion, the experts highlighted the significance of breastfeeding, early newborn care, maternal wellbeing, common challenges faced by new parents and practical strategies to help families build confidence throughout their parenting journey. The session provided evidence-based guidance while addressing concerns commonly experienced during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
The event also featured interactive educational sessions conducted by Dr. Ekaansh Sharma, Psychiatrist; Ms. Shweta Gupta, Head – Dietetics; and Ms. Anns Mariya Charlin, Psychologist.
